Resistance welded at every cross section, welded wire mesh has several advantages over woven wire mesh. It is much more rigid than woven wire screen because it is locked in place at every intersection by a resistance weld. This makes it ideal when there is a lot of shearing or cutting to be done or when manufacturing products that require high rigidity. By welding the wires together (instead of weaving them) the material can hold it's shape without supports, allowing shearing, rolling, and framing to be done with relative ease!
